Ideal for lovers of the great outdoors enjoying spectacular views over some of the most stunning scenery in Galloway. The lively market town of Newton Stewart is 5 minutes away where there are excellent facilities including shops, coffee houses, pubs, hotels and restaurants. It is also the Gateway to the Galloway Hills, situated in Britain's largest forest.  The Kirroughtree visitor centre is a short drive away situated within the Galloway Forest Park and offers a wide variety of activities from trails for all abilities, the chance to spot red squirrels and birds, adventure play ground, an orienteering course as well as fantastic mountain bike trails.  There is horse riding and bike hire available as well as guided ranger walks to get close to the Red deer and wild goats. When it gets dark the visitor centre is a great place at night for star gazing and is known as one of the darkest skies in Scotland!  Salmon fishing is popular on the River Cree and there are local opportunities for sailing, golf and hill walking. The RSPB reserve at Wood of Cree is 4 miles and on the Machars peninsula, which stretches 20 miles south, visitors can explore picturesque harbours as well as sampling the local catch.

1 OF 3 Properties in a wonderful elevated position looking towards Cairnsmore hill.  Walking into this semi-detached studio style accommodation which is all on one level.  There is a bright open plan lounge which has a flat screen TV, Freeview, DVD, iPod dock, and WI-FI.  The open plan kitchen has cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine.  Going up a couple of stairs from the lounge to the bedroom area you will find a king-size bed.  There is a bathroom with a bath, separate shower and WC.  Off the lounge there is a lovely bright conservatory which offers additional seating/second lounge area and dining table. 

Venturing outside there is a BBQ area.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with all you need. Owner explained how things worked .

Spent a week at the Carty Cottage. It was a lovely cottage, fully equipped. Comfortable with a great layout and lovely consevatory. perfect location for us. Friendly and helpful owner. Hopefully will re- book for next year.

Lovely clean cottage. Had everything we needed. Bed was very comfy. Massive garden. We took the garden chairs up to the top to sit for the view. The garden isn't secure if you have a dog that likes to wander though as all one big garden with the owners. Our dog was fine and stayed with us. There is a small paved area outside the conservatory door wRead morehich is gated. The owner lives next door and was very friendly. It's in a great place for exploring the area and very quiet and peaceful. Hide

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Carty cottage. Easy to find in a picturesque setting. Our host made us feel very welcome with flowers and a bottle of wine on arrival. Located very close to the Galloway Forest Park with trails and walks short and long to suit all ages . Highly recommendable

We loved this cottage as did our dog lulu Everything you could possibly need catered for . Conservatory great for eating your meals overlooking the garden outside . Secure parking very private superb views . Very friendly host in david . Would definitely recommend

A well decorated, clean and very peaceful cottage. Very well equipped and comfortable. Located at the top of a hill within an extremely secure gated area.

This accommodation provided a very well equipped, comfortable refuge when the weather limited outdoor activities with easy parking and excellent Wi-Fi.
