This beautiful cottage nestles in a paradise for keen walkers and cyclists, with a superb choice of foot paths and trails to explore. You can discover the Ceiriog Valley, Tanat Valley and Shropshire Hills, or navigate the 177 miles of Offa’s Dyke, and see The Pistyll ,a dramatic 240 foot waterfall in Llanrhaedr which is the tallest single drop waterfall in the UK. There are plenty of pretty villages dotted around the area including Llansilin and Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, with a choice of excellent pubs, cafes and restaurants. The ancient market town of Oswestry offers a unique range of shops, eateries, galleries, events and a host of attractions to enjoy. There are National Trust properties nearby including Erddig, Chirk and Powis Castles.

On entering this attractive property, which was imaginatively restored in 2016 and which retains plenty of original features, including exposed beams, and which offers great views from every window, you will find yourself in the cosy and traditional open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The snug and welcoming lounge is an ideal space to relax in, with comfortable seating, tasteful furnishing, Smart TV and a traditional wood burner. You will also find a charming dining area, and the stylishly designed kitchen is fully equipped with everything you may need including electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Heading up to the first floor, you will find a cosy and spacious super king-size. There is also a wet room, complete with shower and WC.

Stepping outside, you can relax at the end of a fantastic day and admire the glorious rural views from the enclosed garden, with patio, lawn, furniture and BBQ.

Beautiful cottage in stunning valley. Cottage was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. Comfortable sofa and separate single chair. Large bed room with comfortable bed, and seating. Lovely, cosy cottage in the most beautiful location! The daily views were stunning, and I even managed to get a glimpse of the Northern Lights! Lovely little cottage, clean, very quiet and great views down the valley. Good dog walking straight from the cottage or within a walk along the road - so few cars walking on the road is not a problem.

Wow, what a fantastic holiday. A lovely, homely cottage in the most tranquil setting. Wonderful walks for our two dogs. Even in the rain, it was invigorating to walk in the hills and to warm up in the lovely hot shower and snuggle in front of the log burner. On the sunny days we relaxed in the recliners and admired the view. Lovely pub lunches nearRead moreby. Lovely cottage on a quiet lane. Not overlooked by anything. The view from the garden is fantastic - even better than the Internet photos. Michael brought us a parasol, due to the warm weather during our stay, which was appreciated. The cottage is compact but has everything you need for the stay. We used Asda for a home delivery, using What Three WoRead morerds so they could find the cottage. Would recommend. Hide

A relaxing, peaceful location with incredible views. There was a really secure garden for our dog which he loved! There are lots of different walks in the local area and we found lots of dog friendly attractions a short drive away. We had a really good time here!

Really lovely comfortable cottage with views that are amazing and change as the light does. Best and biggest bed I have ever slept in! Wonderful log burning fire. Dog safe and all local area is dog friendly. The most perfect place to relax and unwind! Can not wait to visit again!

Border Retreat is an actual paradise! The views are breathtaking, and the peace & quiet are so soothing for the soul. We slept so well in the enormous bed, I had more deep sleep than I ever have! The spring water tasted amazing. Everything is provided, even hot water bottles! It is much more luxurious than expected and exceeded our expectations. This cottage was exactly as advertised. Peaceful, a super getaway from it all. My two dogs played in the enclosed garden and slept well which meant that I had a good rest too. Everything was provided and carefully thought about. The cleanliness was top notch.

We loved our short stay at Border Retreat and it was perfect for exploring this border area of Wales. We loved its remoteness and the fabulous views from every window. This is our second year at this lovely unique cottage and the setting is still as breathtaking as the first time we visited. Would definitely recommend if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and just enjoy the beautiful scenery and stunning walks surrounding in surrounding areas

The only properly secured garden I have ever found for my 2 jack russells so nice to let them roam freely about the garden. They loved it ! Great walks from the cottage. Location is amazing totally switched off easy to find. Cottage was warm, plenty of hot water good instructions in the property. Cottage was the best equipped one we have ever been Read moretoo. Exceptional views for miles, along a valley with hardly a house in sight. A unique and comfortable cottage. Simple and yet well equipped. Isolated (apart from the owners house which is not visible) and yet only 10 minutes or so and you are in the hustle and bustle of the market town of Oswestry. Friendly and helpful hosts.

Border retreat is a wonderful place to stay. It is secure for dogs, very peaceful and the views are amazing. Everything is provided for you. Wish we stayed longer. Our dog Teddy hardly barked and was totally chilled. Would recommend a stay in the beautiful cottage.

Location was perfection, views of hills and fields appear to go on forever. Watching sheep, rabbits, and a couple of buzzards was a bonus. Very quiet and peaceful. Wonderful to have a safe garden for our Labradoodle with a seating area for us too. Cottage facilities are all great quality. Just Perfect!

Border Retreat was amazing we loved it and the dogs loved watching the sheep and no barking from the dogs. We didnt have any encounters with traffic. Walking the dogs on the the Old Racecourse was brilliant beautiful place to walk.

What an amazing place! The cottage was a perfect home from home with everything one needs. The location was fabulous and the woolly neighbours were adorable. The terrace provided the perfect viewing platform to watch the gangs of lambs hanging out and playing chase - too cute for words!

Perfect rural location and views were out of this world. The bedroom is so cosy and the view out the "round" window was breathtaking. Old cottage with mod cons that has been renovated to a high standard. Great walks direct from the cabin and plenty to do within the local area and our two dogs enjoyed it as much as we did.
