Escape to this couple’s rural retreat tucked away in mature gardens surrounded by rolling hills yet only two miles away from the market town of Glossop where you’ll find a wide array of shops, eateries, parks and Victorian swimming pool. The town is known as an excellent base for exploring some of the Peak District's classic walking country, including Black Hill, Bleaklow, Kinder Scout and the Longdendale Valley. Visit the Blue John Cavern (13.5 miles), Treak Cliff Cavern (15.5 miles) and Speedwell Cavern, a flooded underground cave system that can be explored by boat at nearby Castleton 15 miles away. Well worth a visit is the National Trust’s Lyme Park and Hall (11 miles) where Pride and Prejudice was filmed in 1995, and Peveril Castle built in 1080, which is situated near Castleton (15 miles). Also, Derwent Valley has a picturesque series of dams as well as the Ladybower Reservoir (14.5 miles) where the Dambusters trained.

Enter the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner and find that the kitchen area offers all you need to rustle up a meal. When the food is ready, there is a dining table large enough to comfortably seat four. Spend your evenings with your feet up in the lounge, curled up with a good book or watching the TV. Taking a step up into the double bedroom which has pleasant garden views and an en-suite shower room. The accommodation benefits from being set on one level and enjoys garden views from every window.

Heading outside, the garden area has seating to enjoy the summer nights with a relaxing drink whilst watching the birds in the mature trees that surround you.

The cottage was very well equipped with 'high end' appliances and equipment. It was very warm and cosy. There was a small outside area but it was too cold to sit out! There was a brilliant welcome pack including fresh home made bread. The only downside was the very tight entrance to park the car, we managed to get a Freelander in by reversing into Read morethe space with a bit of manouvering. Hide

Beautiful, cozy, private accommodation in a convenient location on the edge of the Peak District. The flat contains a well equipped kitchen, lots of other conveniences and a very helpful folder containing information about the flat and the surrounding area. We reached out to the owner for assistance on a couple of occasions and she was quick to resRead morepond, friendly and helpful. Easy to recommend! Hide

Located in a quiet, rural position, backing on to the lodge of a country house to the rear, great for exploring the High Peak. There is a parking place but if you have a large/long vehicle, the access is difficult. It may be that an alternative would be available. A superb welcome pack was left and this was great! Apartment was spacious, comfortablRead moree and well equipped. It was generally clean and tidy but there were a few maintenance issues that have been pointed out to the owners. Hide
