The cottage is clean but very basic. 24 steps to back door. Loved Appledore but wouldn't stay here again. Prefer a more homely feel

The property was clean and comfortable. In an ideal position to walk into Appledore and visit the local amazing beaches. However, the towels were hard, thin and scratchy. The kitchen scales did not work. We used the twin beds as that was the nicer bedroom. Kitchen could have more equipment , oven efficient and loads of hot water. Bit of a climb to Read morethe car but we are octogenarians. We enjoyed our holiday in Fig Tree cottage and so did our spaniel Maggie. Super area, fantastic beaches. Hide

Lovely cottage, nice & cool when it's hot. Steps abit steep up to the garden. We thought the decking could be at the bottom not at the top of the lawn by the car port. Kitchen cupboards smelt abit musky but we'll stocked crockery wise. Mobile signal not very good. I had to go out upto the garden to get signal.

Lovely clean cottage, well equipped and with private parking. Just a short walk to the Quay. The double room was 'snug' and we used the twin room which is light and airy. The bedding and towels are of good quality. As the property description explains there are 13 (we didn't count them!) steep steps up from the cottage to the decking and garage at Read morethe top of the garden. The view from the decking is worth it though. Hide

The cottage is lovely and warm and had everything we needed in the kitchen. We loved the spacious bathroom and the shower. It's in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the quay, and so quiet. The car port is a massive bonus as parking can be tricky in that area. It's also a great base for exploring North Devon, we did lots of beach walks Read morewith our dog. We had a great roast and delicious pizza from places on the quay. The beds were too hard for our liking, but that's personal preference. Hide

Nice, comfortable cottage very close to the main town. The parking was a little tricky as the road to the garage is quite narrow, but much better than other properties that arent able to offer any parking. The heating is controlled by the owner, which at times left us either too hot or too cold.

Well kept cottage. Beds comfortable & lounge furniture OK. Great location, everything in the village was all in walking distance. Car port very handy as no parking fees required. Only one thing the dishwasher switch worked the fridge, so needed to be careful not to switch it off.

The downside to the cottage are the very steep steps down into the back door of the property. If you have disabilitys then this is not the cottage for you.

A lovely stay in Fig Tree, Appledore. Short walk downhill/steps to the quayside. Glad we parked up and walked to the cottage beforehand as arrived early. Easiest access is via Pitt Hill then left into Tonmouth Road and a left by the blue house to find the Back street access. 13 garden steps a bit challenging on our arrival (hot weather) day.

Guests need to be aware you cannot control the heating system by any means other than texting the owners. You cant always get a signal either. Appledore is a delightful village and Fig Tree Cottage is in a central and peaceful location. The cottage is small and not suitable for 4 adults. The sofas are quite small and not very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. The bathroom is fine with a good shower. The single bed mattresses need changing as are very soft and springy. The heatingRead more is controlled remotely by the owner, which we found frustrating. We stayed over Christmas and had a nice week despite these few issues. Hide
