Property code: IC078

This delightful cottage lies at the foot of Appuldurcombe Down. A ten-minute stroll through the beech copse and across the fields leads you to the centre of the picturesque village of Godshill, renowned for its church, thatched cottages and a variety of tea shops, restaurants and pubs. There is also immediate access from the farm courtyard to footpaths and bridleways leading to Appuldurcombe and along the Stenbury Trail to the coast at Ventnor. The sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are under a twenty-minute drive away. Above the arable fields of the farm lie sweeping open downlands with grazing sheep. From the downs there are wonderful panoramic views across the Isle of Wight towards the Hampshire and Dorset coastline.

This is one of three adjoining cottages which are south-facing and overlook an attractive farm courtyard with ancient Grade II listed barns and a traditional farmhouse which date back to the 17th century. On entering this lovely barn conversion you will find yourself in the open plan lounge/diner. With plenty of comfy seating and TV/DVD, the delightful lounge is an ideal space to unwind in. You will also find a cosy dining area with a window which looks over to the fields. Heading over to the kitchen you will find it fully equipped with an electric cooker with hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is also a ground-floor WC. Heading upstairs you will find two cosy bedrooms. There’s a double room and one twin bedroom with floor to ceiling beams between the beds and a sloped ceiling on one side. You will also find a bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC.

From the rear of the cottage there are lovely views stretching across the open fields, to the church tower of Godshill, with St. George’s Downs beyond. Stepping outside you will find a sunny fenced patio at the front of the cottage which overlooks a fountain. Garden furniture is also provided so you can dine in the sunshine. Within a minute’s walk of the cottage is an open lawn area suitable for ball games. Here you can relax and enjoy a BBQ. Beautiful carpets of bluebells can be a joy to see, in the nearby woodland, in late April and early May. Car parking spaces are available close to the cottage. You will also have access to the laundry room, which is shared with the other cottages on-site, and which houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Lovely place in a great location in the countryside, but within easy walking distance of Godshill (thoroughly recommend the Griffin pub!). Warm , comfortable and well equipped. Be aware that the upstairs is in the roof space so you need to be supple to avoid the ceiling.

We had a great few days here, it is a very peaceful and pretty location in the farm, well located a short drive to Ventnor and Shanklin, and the apartment is clean, quiet, a good size and has everything you need.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. We hit our heads on the sloping roof upstairs and found the double bed too small but the little front garden was a suntrap with spectacular views. Many walks on the doorstep. Godshill village a 10 min walk through woods. Lovely lounge with big tv in the cottage. Well equiped kitchen downstairs loo too

Lovely area with great walks in beautiful woodland. Not much headroom in the bathroom because of sloping roof. Might be an issue if you are quite tall.

Lovely location to see much of the island easily and very peaceful. Good walks straight from the doorstep and two friendly pubs in Godshill. The Cheverton Farm Shop just outside the village has a good range of quality food. (If, as we do, you like to cook, you may want to bring your own knives.) The cottage was very comfortable for two of us and weRead more appreciated the outdoor furniture as the small garden catches lots of Sun. Hide
