Charming country cottage with stunning views and wonderful sunsets. Plenty of walking, sightseeing and local attractions within easy reach. Perfect for a family, couples and horse lovers.
Set on a working farm with horses, sheep and working dogs, this inviting barn conversion is surrounded by open countryside, paddocks and even a horse training arena. As the owners offer livery and horse training, you may well see some live action during your stay. There are lovely walks and cycle routes to explore. Head to Wooler, at the foothills of The Cheviots for excellent routes and a range of shops, pubs and restaurants. There are also lovely eateries in nearby Eglingham and Chatton. Visit haunted Chillingham Castle nearby, while Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Gardens, with beautiful dancing fountains and the Poison Garden, offer a memorable day out. Seahouses, Bamburgh and Beadnell are perfect for days on the beach.
Entering through the main door you will come into the light and spacious hallway where you can leave your outdoor clothing and shoes. Head left towards the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner to find lovely high ceilings, skylights, exposed beams and original artwork on the walls. A floor-to-ceiling feature fireplace separates the kitchen/diner from the lounge and houses the wood burner, just perfect for cosy evenings in. Relax on the two comfortable sofas after your days out exploring and catch your favourite shows on TV. French doors lead out to the south-facing front patio. The kitchen has dual-aspect windows so you can see both the side garden and the riding school arena. It is well equipped with everything you might need, including an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, and you can enjoy sociable meals together sitting at the dining table. Heading back down the hall you will find the two bedrooms. The restful master bedroom is at the far end with a large floor-to-ceiling window where you can sit with a book and your morning cup of tea overlooking the side lawn. The pretty second bedroom has twin beds and overlooks the training arena. The bathroom comprises a shower over the bath and WC.
Outside, with views towards the Cheviot Hills, the garden is enclosed by gates at each end and there are two lawned areas, one to the side where you can dry a little washing if needed and one to the front where there is a lovely patio with garden furniture, ideal for al fresco dining. There is a stone-built wall separating the garden on one side from the adjacent horse arena. There is ample off-road private parking on the gated driveway. There is the option for stabling and grazing for four horses (arranged directly with the owner, at an additional charge).
