Located on a farm with rolling views of the surrounding farmland, the Cromarty Firth and the mountains of Wester Ross in the distance, this cottage is perfect for an escape. Lovers of the great outdoors will enjoy the many walks, forest tracks, rivers/lochs, and local archaeology, all within easy reach, including the Fyrish Monument that is 10 miles away. There are plenty of sandy beaches, including Dornoch, Portmahomack, Shandwick, and Fortrose where seals and dolphins are often spotted – all within 22 miles. Inverness is 24 miles away, from which you can venture further south to famed Loch Ness.
Inspired by the old farm bothy that stood on this site, the cottage has been lovingly created using stone from the original building with some of the wood also retained and used for features such as sills and shelves, adding to its charm throughout. The cottage consists of an open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner, with high ceilings and large glass windows looking out onto Fyrish Hill. The lounge contains a cosy wood burner, smart TV and Bluetooth speaker, and patio doors that lead out to the garden. The kitchen has everything you could need during your stay, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, under-counter fridge and freezer, a dishwasher, and a Nespresso coffee machine. The utility area with a washing machine and dryer can be found in a purpose-built facility to the rear of the cottage; this also has lockable storage which is great for storing bikes, fishing rods, and golfing gear. The bedroom has been furnished with lovely oak furniture and a super-king-size bed, with guest robes and toiletries plus a hairdryer provided. The shower room with WC has been tastefully decorated and has fantastic high ceilings just like the other rooms at the cottage.
Outside, there are various seating areas surrounding the bothy that enable you to make the most of the sun throughout the course of the day. The private garden itself is lawned and extensive in size and opens out onto wildflower areas with fields beyond. There is a gas BBQ for evenings if you wish to dine alfresco whilst watching the sunset, and parking on the driveway for two cars.
