Places worth visiting include Dalbeattie (7 miles) and Scotland’s ‘Food Town’, Castle Douglas (13 miles) and ‘Artist’s Town’, Kirkcudbright (21 miles). Visit RSPB Mersehead (4 miles) or Galloway Activity Centre at Loch Ken offers a great choice of water sports and activities (23 miles). Bruce the owner is very helpful and a delight to speak to. Beautiful relaxing accommodation and setting. Totally private. Lovely modern stay with a very comfy bed. Good WiFi (fibre fed). Lovely walks close by as well as great forest walks. We have stayed in many lodges and generally I very pleased with the standard offered especially in Scotland. We were most impressed with the location and the peace, quiet,and wildlife. It was agood place for the dogs with a short walk to the beach and around the loch without the need for the car. This is a gem of a holiday destination. From the second we walked in the door, we were relaxed, felt completely at home and the annex provided everything we could ever need. The hot tub is excellent, the wildlife is in abundance in the garden and a free source of entertainment. We were made very welcome and our dogs were as happy to be here as we wRead moreere. The cottage and gardens are of an outstanding quality. Everything you could possibly need is provided. The welcome hamper and doggy hamper are a thoughtful touch. The hottub is a welcome addition and kept spotlessly clean. The location is perfect for walks and Sandy hills beach.

A first class holiday home that we would definitely go back to. Great walks for the dog and everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Fantastic views and lovely to watch the wildlife in the garden each day. Hot tub was excellent.

Treetops is totally beautiful , the interior will take your breath away and I would recommend it to everyone. We stayed here for 7 nights from 15-22 September 2023. It was perfect, very relaxing, quiet and comfortable. The decor is beautiful with high standard finishes and the cleanliness when we arrived was outstanding. There is plenty of wild life in the garden (birds,rabbits and a badger at night.) we had plenty of walks on the beach and in the woods. IRead moret was just perfect and exactly what we wanted. We had a really enjoyable week at the Treetops Retreat. This really is high-end dog friendly accommodation. The retreat is accessed through the Barend holiday lodge site, but is surrounded by established woodland and very quiet and private. The owners live upstairs in the upper floors of Barend House and are really friendly and helpful. Great placeRead more to chill out. Fantastic property, beautifully furnished, extremely well equipped and a very high standard of cleanliness. The owners were lovely and welcoming too , but the icing on the cake was the location, views, peace and quiet and an abundance of wildlife visiting the garden. Wow! Already re booked for next year.

Wonderful cottage in a fantastic location. Hot tub was an added bonus after all of our hiking. Cracking for the dogs too (2 x German Shepherds) Would certainly return.

From the moment we arrived at Treetops we felt welcome and relaxed. The Christmas tree lights were twinkling, the cottage was warm and there was a basket of treats waiting for us. The location is perfect and the view, out over the garden to the sea, is wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this peaceful, cosy cottage.
