England’s tallest mountain, Scafell Pike, is just 4.5 miles away while the country’s deepest lake, Wastwater, is only 2 miles and makes for a wonderful walk. The neighbouring valley of Eskdale is 6.5 miles away where you can hop aboard the famous Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway, take a stroll along golden sands at Drigg Beach or visit the historic Muncaster Castle. And when you’re feeling peckish, the valley offers a wealth of friendly pubs and eateries to enjoy – the nearest pub is only 2.5 miles from the cottage if you fancy a night off from cooking.
