If you’re holidaying alone or as a couple, this welcoming retreat on the Kent/Sussex border makes a cosy home away from home. It’s in a rural spot, with plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling all around. You’ll be 1 mile from the attractive village of Hawkhurst, where you’ll find shops plus restaurants and gastro pubs for eating out. During your stay, you could visit the National Trust’s Sissinghurst Castle (8 miles), or enjoy a day on the beach at Camber Sands (16.5 miles).
This accommodation, an annexe of the owner’s property, is accessed via an entrance down the side. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a cosy place to spend time, with comfortable seating, a TV and a sound system. Doors from the lounge area lead out onto the patio. There’s a well-equipped kitchen plus a glass-topped table for enjoying meals. Carpeted stairs from this room lead up to the first floor, where you’ll find a cosy double bedroom with a gable-end wall. The en-suite shower room has a heated towel rail for extra cosiness in winter.
Outside, you’ll have your own paved patio with furniture. This area is partially screened from the owner’s garden with a pergola and mature plants to offer privacy. There are pretty views across the apple orchard from here, and a BBQ is available for cooking up meals alfresco.
