This cute, modern cottage in the tiny hamlet of Debach makes a terrific country bolthole for a couple exploring Suffolk’s wide-open landscapes, endlessly captivating market towns and historic attractions. In the summer months, the 493rd Debach Airfield Museum, just 1 mile, offers a fascinating step back in time to World War II. Only a little further, at 4.5 miles, the Woodbridge Tide Mill is an 850-year-old working mill and museum, one of few still in operation today. Woodbridge itself is charming, stuffed with independent shops, cafes, pubs and galleries, and also home to a cinema/theatre. Equally historic and beguiling, Framlingham 7.5 miles north of the property, has its own enticing range of eating and shopping venues, and, of course, stunning Framlingham Castle. Foodies might like to note that both Woodbridge and Framlingham have popular markets showcasing local produce – stop by Woodbridge on a Thursday and Framlingham on a Tuesday or Saturday for takeaway treats showcasing the best of the county’s craft producers. Also close by is Ufford Park Spa with a 120-acre 18-hole par 71 golf course and a stunning spa to help you relax and unwind.
All accommodation in this bright and appealing Suffolk country cottage is located on one level. The open-plan lounge/diner has a cosy sofa area with a generous selection of local maps, books and games, and a dining area with a dining table and chairs; both enjoy natural light from the French doors that lead out to the garden. The compact kitchen is well equipped for essential holiday catering – perfect for making the most of those gourmet market supplies. There’s a comfortable king-size bedroom and a smart shower room with a walk-in shower too.
A fence-enclosed garden with feature planting, part gravel and part paving, is a pretty spot to sit out in the evenings, making use of a bistro table and chairs and taking in the fresh, country air.
