Nestled on the fringes of Dartmoor National Park, this delightful stand-alone cabin sits within its own wildflower meadow and orchard, just 2 miles from the historic market town of Okehampton. It is ideally placed to experience the highest and wildest part of the moor, whilst also being conveniently situated near the A30, providing easy access to the charming city of Exeter or to head further south to explore the delights of Cornwall. For cycling enthusiasts, the cabin is perfect for easy access to the Granite Way, and for hikers, you can head off to explore the surrounding tors with their breath-taking panoramic views. Okehampton itself boasts a wealth of amenities, featuring many charming independent shops and delicatessens, a variety of restaurants, pubs and cafes, as well as supermarkets and the Museum of Dartmoor Life. Within a 20-mile radius, an array of attractions awaits, including Lydford Gorge, Roadford Lake, Meldon Reservoir and Viaduct, the historic Okehampton Castle, Castle Drogo and numerous pretty Dartmoor villages.

Stepping inside this stunning countryside cabin, you’ll pass through the opening porch to discover a perfectly designed interior with furniture that has been skilfully handcrafted by the owners, making it truly unique. Whilst being open plan, the space feels cosy and inviting with the flow of exposed beams, a log burner and a flagstone floor, which benefits from underfloor heating. The lounge area has a comfortable Chesterfield sofa to relax on after a day of exploring, whilst gazing across the surrounding hillsides to the front of the cabin and listening to the crackle of logs on the fire. The well-appointed kitchen boasts all the essentials for preparing fresh ingredients sourced from one of the many local farmer’s markets. In the sleeping area you will find a lovely handcrafted king-size bed and adjoining en-suite with shower and WC.

To the rear of the cabin there are steps leading to a private raised patio area, from which you can enjoy an al-fresco breakfast, a tasty BBQ and a relaxing evening tipple. There is also a sheltered space here for those breezier days, and a gateway out onto the large, enclosed field for morning walks, where you might sometimes be joined by our friendly, woolly, four-legged friends! To the front of the cabin, you will find further seating allowing you to enjoy the fresh outdoors amongst an orchard style open garden area, with wildflower meadow and a path throughout. Plenty of options to explore the space with that morning cuppa.

We had the most fabulous stay at the cabin. Martin and Jakki are truly wonderful and were incredibly helpful, friendly and just lovely, lovely people but never overly present unless we needed. The cabin is stunning. Utterly exquisite and the attention to detail is second to none. Martin's craftsmanship is staggering and they've made a truly remarkaRead moreble property. We stayed with out Border Collie, Mack, and he loved having so much space to run and play int he front garden, as well as the odd car to chase!! There were no sheep in the field out the back so we were able to play ball etc out there whilst taking in the lovely views. It was a shame we couldn't use the back of the property as the BBQ and seating area looked great but it was December. We will most definitely be back for another visit when time allows. Hide

Lovely little cosy cabin. Perfect for escaping to. Beautiful surroundings that we would have loved to explore more. The owners were very friendly and helpful making our visit even better. Would be lovely to visit in the winter with the log fire going. The craftsmanship of the cabin is amazing and very well thought out.

Well what can I say about our stay.. nothing but positives. Firstly, how wonderful to meet Martin & Jakki. I had the pleasure of hearing about their journey to build the cabin. As individuals and a couple they are fantastic, lovely people, they really shine. All their efforts, time, planning, energy, blood, sweat and (probably) tears have paid offRead more. They should be extremely proud of the cabin; it is not only aesthetically beautiful, but super cosy, comfortable, clean, and all the equipment you need. The attention to detail is wonderful and they have done a fantastic job. Whether you have a dog or not, I would highly recommend a stay here, but Place Farm Cabin is very canine friendly if you are travelling with a furry companion. Great location for exploring the beautiful Dartmoor National park and being in nature, and Devon in general, but close to amenities. I had a truly restorative break, Im so grateful. Anything I needed / questions, they were super responsive and helpful. Id only been there a couple of hours when I enquired if I could stay longer; unfortunately not this time, as there were new guests arriving on my departure. Had I been able to stay an additional night or two; no hesitation. I was sad to leave, but Im already looking at the calendar to see when I can return. Martin & Jakki you have gone above and beyond, you deserve all the good reviews & positive things coming your way. Nothing but good vibes and a BIG THANK YOU. Look forward to seeing you both soon, Bindi The Big Dog & Hannah Hide
