This stunning bolthole for two, in the heart of the North Devon countryside, is the ideal place to switch off and relax. Just 1 mile away is the quaint village of Lee Bay, where you’ll find old stone cottages, as well as a welcoming village pub serving local ale and Devon cider. Lee Bay Beach is a craggy cove set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Share a picnic on the sand, before heading out along the South West Coast Path to explore the dramatic coastline or following one of the many woodland trails that branch away from the village. Slightly further along the coast (3 miles), you’ll reach the Victorian resort of Ilfracombe. Wander around the harbour to admire Damien Hirst’s iconic Verity statue, peruse the many boutiques and galleries, or perhaps hop on the MS Oldenburg to spend the day on the remote island of Lundy.
Wide, gravel steps lead you through the trees and to the wooden staircase that takes you to the front door of this beautiful forest retreat. The property has been stylishly decorated in subtle tones and beautiful wood panelling adds a slightly rustic feel. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner/bedroom is bright and airy and triple-aspect windows look out onto open countryside. Enjoy a dinner for two at the sweet dining table, before sinking into the reclining sofa, lighting the wood burner, and watching a classic film on the TV/DVD. Tucked away, to the rear of the property, is an elegant king-size bed/sleeping area and en-suite shower room.
A stunning, south-facing covered veranda provides the perfect spot for post-dinner drink as the sun sets over the trees. There is also a lower decked area, with a chimenea and hot tub to make the most of.
